If a mattress is still in your Sapporo apartment, the first question is whether it has springs. Sapporo’s published bulky-waste fee examples list a bed mattress with springs at ¥1,800 and one without springs at ¥200. Your ward’s collection day still decides whether that cheap city route can finish before handover.

First: check your ward deadline
Sapporo does not use one citywide bulky-waste collection weekday. Kiyota is collected Monday, Kita/Higashi/Nishi/Teine on Wednesday, Chuo/Toyohira on Thursday, and Shiroishi/Atsubetsu/Minami on Friday. The application deadline is earlier in the same week or the previous week depending on your ward.

Do not confuse the bed frame with the mattress
Sapporo’s fee examples separate the frame from the mattress. A single / semi-double / bunk / pipe bed frame without the mattress is listed at ¥500; a double-bed frame without the mattress is listed at ¥900. The mattress has its own fee based on springs.
What to do after the booking
Follow the city’s booking instructions and put the item at the agreed collection point by 8:30 a.m. on collection day. If you used electronic payment, Sapporo instructs you to write the four-digit reception number on paper and attach it visibly to the item.
If your room handover happens first
Do not leave the mattress at the garbage station and hope for the best. If the next legal city pickup is after your handover, compare the remaining legal route against the cost of a last-minute pickup. Send the exact item, dimensions, floor/elevator details and handover deadline before asking for a quote.
