Do not leave your bicycle at the station when you leave Sapporo. Sapporo lists a bicycle as ¥500 bulky waste and says to cancel the bicycle anti-theft registration at a nearby police box or police station before disposal.
Sapporo’s published example fee for a bicycle.
Sapporo tells residents to cancel the anti-theft registration first.
Eligible usable bicycles can be requested for reuse collection.
The cheap route only works if your ward deadline still fits
Sapporo’s bulky-waste schedule depends on your ward. If your apartment handover is before the next available collection day, the ¥500 city route may be too late even though it is cheap.

Cancel the anti-theft registration before disposal
Sapporo’s bulky-waste guidance specifically says bicycle owners should cancel the anti-theft registration at a nearby police box or police station before putting the bicycle out. Do this while you still have the bicycle and your documents available rather than leaving it until departure day.
If the bicycle still works, ask for reuse collection
Sapporo offers a reuse-collection request for eligible usable bicycles. The city cleans or services suitable items and makes them available for reuse. If your bicycle is still in usable condition, mention reuse when you apply.
Do not solve move-out by abandoning the bicycle
Sapporo has designated no-parking / no-abandonment areas around many stations. A bicycle left in a prohibited area can be removed, and the city lists a ¥3,000 removal fee when reclaiming a removed bicycle. That is a different process from legal bulky-waste disposal.
If you have no time left
If the official collection date misses your handover, ask a legal pickup route for a written total and exact collection date. If you also have furniture or appliances, send one complete item list so the deadline can be quoted once.
